Feb 29th Leap Day .......brick cleans and burpees

Mini brick training before class

9 min city bike ride to box - butt bones are screaming

5 min Airdyne 62 kcal about 2 miles 
600m run 
Felt pretty good

then coached 2 classes 6-8
and after that 

50 power cleans 55lbs 
50 over bar burpees

so the week flew by.....
not much training for me so after todays classed the 7 min burpee wod 12.1......CrossFit Games Open is in effect :-)

got 87 not too bad not fab.....

Feb 22 - getting back at it

so after 2 days of rest after the C.R.A.S.H.-B.'s .....
i managed to squeeze in 
100 airsquats
100 situps
30 hspu on 2 abmats - no kipping
In between my morning groups. 

legs are a little stiff - still.......

signed up to do an indoor tri - row 1K bike 10k and run 2 miles.....March 10th here we go

Feb 19th - C.R.A.S.H-B. - new pr and a blown plan

well.
I made it to Boston.
Checked in and looked around....A lot of rowers...
Hung out in the bull pen - 
warmed up pretty hard because my adrenaline was sky high.....




My heat came up - Erg 29 ......
I had a plan 2:00 first 500 then 1:59, then 1:58 and then 1:57 or lower...


Well.............here is what happened


I started out way hard and I could not slow down after 350 m I was still around 1:50.....
held onto 1:50-1:55 until last 500....last 500 was supposed to accelerate and I could barely hold onto 2:00


I saw on my display that I was in 5th place until about 700 left then slipped to 6th...


Well.....I managed to go sub 8 min and among the 15 best.
Result 7:40.3 and 6th place. 
A PR by 27 seconds ......so I must have done something right.

Target 1:58, 1:54.8 29s/m most even but overall too fast

feel fine but a little nervous and excited. 
I could talk while doing these sprints so they were not that bad.

Feb 15th - Rest day - pondering things

thinking about what to wear to C.R.A.S.H -B.
yes what to wear.........


thinking about what it will feel like to sit there and wait for count down.
Thinking about my plan. Thinking about the days before Christmas when I decided that I was going to try to learn how to row better.  Thinking about Christmas Eve when I rowed a marathon with my Coach Syn and two other box members.....thinking about the last month when I have gotten help with my rowing programming and technique from my rowing Coach Ben.......thinking of the realization that I didn't die even though I felt like I was after sprinting for 500m after a 3K.......
thinking I want to do well and have fun....
thinking of the things we put ourselves thru and why...thinking of discipline, mental training, endurance...thinking about the target and the monitor and the closing of my eyes and counting down from 50.....until it all goes dark and I am finally done.

After coaching 2 morning classes (- that snooze button was the downfall this morning - no breakfast )

Concentrate on being smooth. 24-26 stroke rate.
 
500 warm up

Kept the entire piece even between 204-210 but mainly 206-207. Even.
It kind of sucked from 3200m - I had to count 50's and 10's for the remainder and from 150 down to 0

Mental notes 
A little scary but after the first 2 I got my confidence back - I know I can deal with one hard piece it is just when I have to do repeats my mind starts thinking about the next one. That is why I count -
To stay focused on this piece and manage the distance 10 pulls = 100 m 

For me it is about disciplining the mind - endure the discomfort and finishing the piece.

Feb 7th - 12 x 500 no rest

it was supposed to be the Monster ....coming to get me

then pull at new average pace....
well I was alone and set the intervals at 500 with 0 rest - worked but not....every time the average zeroed out so I had to make my own monster......and I could not keep it going negative after the 6th round.

this was my workout for Monday - it is now Friday and I finally did it

10 cycles bear complex (only used the 35lb bar) PC-FS-PP-BS-PP

10 strokes slide only, keep it slow
Remainder-normal rowing.

Started way to fast went slow last 250m. No power strokes
